Packing for a Summer Vacation

Hello! I had a long spiel prepared for this post in which I was going to talk about how much I love to travel (and pack) and that it is vital to get out and see the world and try new things. Then, after taking the pictures for this post, I realized it is going to be a pretty long one…so let's get right into it!

How I pack for a Summer Vacation:

1 // I always start with a clean, flat surface that I can devote entirely to putting clothes that I will be bringing on.
2 // Now, as you can see I've placed all of my different types of clothing in different piles. I find this helps me keep from overpacking because I can see how many shirts, shorts, dresses, etc I plan to pack.

3 // I know lots of people like to pack in outfits (meaning they put together complete outfits and pack them accordingly), me being one of them, but I have found that I also like to throw in a few extra things that I can switch out for other pieces if I'm just not feeling the outfits I packed. I mean, am I the only one that loves an outfit one day and the next day has absolutely no idea what I was thinking.

4 // Once I've finalized my outfit selections…IT'S TIME TO PACK! (my favourite part!)

5 // I have an awesome tip that's going to save you boatloads of space in your suitcase (so you can pack even more cute accessories ;) Roll your clothes. I know what you might be thinking, "What is she talking about?" Here's how:

6 // Now that you've got that step all rolled up (you see what I did there ;) Load everything into your suitcase. I don't really have a method to this, I just kind of see where things fit and put them there.

7 // Once clothes are packed make sure you throw in toiletries, PJs, and whatever else you need (curling irons anyone?).

8 // Zip up and roll out.

Bonus! What I pack in my carry-on!
In my carry-on (which is this beautiful backpack from Zara) I usually pack:
 -My camera (and accessories)
-All the chargers I could possibly need (and some kind of pouch to hold them in)
-A little pouch full of bandaids, hair elastics, facial masks, you know…the essentials ;)
 -My electronics (phone, iPad, laptop)
-A good book (The one shown is Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy)
-Headphones are a must (and I also have a headphone tree so that more than one person can listen at once!)
-Some sports tape (long days of sitting and walking can irritate a few of my dance injuries)
-My speaker (I love this thing so much!)

So there you go! I know this post was a little longer; if you made it to the end you get a big hug from me! What did you think of my gifs?!

Do you have any packing tips that you'd like to share?! I'd love to hear them!
Thanks for reading!

  1. How did you do your gifs? That is SO COOL! Hahah, I'm actually quite a beginner when it comes to using my camera- I don't even know how to take a video with it yet! :') Oh well, I guess I'll just read the manual this summer...
And as for the packing tips: I have absolutely nothing to share with you! I'm so bad at packing! I'm the type who starts the night before and starts panicking when we're at the airport the next day because I forgot to pack my charger!

  2. I just googled gif maker and clicked the first one that came up! Haha, I used to be the same with packing! I'm still a serial overpacker ;)
