This trip is flying by! Today was our second and final day in Victoria :( At least it was packed with Sightseeing and shopping! Let's jump right in!
The morning started fantastically with a delicious breakfast with my dad. We ate in the dining room of our hotel and it was beautiful. The Oak Bay Hotel was rebuilt in 2012 but they were able to create an antique atmosphere (with a few more modern perks, heated bathroom floors anyone ;) I had a smoothie and toast (real exciting, I know) and my dad had the usual...eggs Benedict. A running joke my dad and I have is I think he should start his own blog where he reviews eggs Benedicts from all over. He seriously gets an eggs Benedict every time we go for breakfast!
We then walked around a bit and took some pictures of the hotel grounds. We also climbed some rocks (which I did wearing white jeans and flip flops, what was I thinking!) on the oceanfront around the hotel and snuck onto a beach where my dad taught me how to skip rocks. I am pleased to say I was able to skip one rock.
Then we met up with the rest of the family and walked all the way to downtown Victoria. I loved seeing all the beautiful houses and landscaping (although due to the water ban across BC the grass was pretty brown).
Once we made it downtown we walked down Government Street and I purchased a very cute dress from Billabong. My dad won on the shopping front though, he bought a new pair of runners and some new bearings for his longboard. Honestly, the shopping in Victoria was not the greatest but the lack of shopping was made up for in beautiful sights. I have never seen a parliament building as beautiful as the one in Victoria, I love how when copper roofs tarnish they turn that bright minty green. I think it adds so much character and history to buildings.
Once sightseeing had come to a close we headed to a restaurant my mom had seen on "You Gotta Eat Here!" Called The Pink Bicycle. It was a gourmet burger joint and ahhh it was so delish! At first I could barely fit my mouth around my cheese burger, but before I knew it it had dissapeared (no regrets ;). My dad got a veggie burger that was so beef like he couldn't even tell the difference and my mom got these mac and cheese sticks that were to die for!
We then called our hotel and they arranged a pickup for us (talk about service!) and we headed back. After a quick change out of our outfits and into our bathing suits we headed to the pool for yet another three hour swimming and sushi session. The sushi was great, again!
Swimming tired me out and I headed back to the room and to bed. It was a great end to another great day on the coast!
