I am so in love with the coast! The trees are so lush and the salty-fresh smell of the ocean is the best. Am I the only person that associates different scents with different places? Erin and I always talk about that feeling you get when you arrive in a new place and smell the foreign air and hear the unfamiliar sounds (that quickly become intimately familiar). It's an almost indescribable feeling. I'm always reminded of LA when I smell exhaust and hear buses (probably because of riding of few Disney Buses).
To start, this morning my family and I, guided by my mom's best friend and her husband (Susan and Alex), went to the Savoury Pie Company in North Van. I got a raspberry oatmeal muffin, it was so good! My dad got the morning glory muffin. It was a carrot cake muffin with some other magical ingredients and oh man did I regret my lame-o raspberry oatmeal muffin (even though it was delish ;).
After a yummy breakfast we decided to head to Stanley Park and walk along the sea wall. It was beautiful! I have never walked the seawall before and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Vancouver.
There was a forest fire on one of the islands outside of Vancouver, therefore it was a little smokey in the morning, but after a pit stop for lunch at home we headed to Ambleside beach. As we stretched out on the beach the smoke began to dissipate and the sun had a chance to crisp us up (I swear I always wear sunscreen but I burn so easy ;) Max (my little brother) and I had so much fun splashing through the waves (but, in typical Max fashion I got a few unwanted splashes to the face).
After the beach we headed back to home base and had a beautiful dinner made by Susan and Alex. Then it was ice-cream and off to bed to prep for the early morning ferry tomorrow!
