Today was our first day in Victoria, a place I last visited when I was merely 1 years old. I may not remember it here, but I think it's safe to assume that it has changed a lot!
This morning we got up at around 6:30 and were ready and out of the house by around 7. We then loaded up the car and trundled down to the ferry dock. The ferry ride to Victoria was beautiful! It was pretty smokey (this morning the smoke had blown back in) but the smoke cast an eerie curtain over surrounding boats and islands that made for some neat photo-ops. We departed the ferry in Nanimo and drove for about an hour and a half to our hotel in Victoria.
We are staying at the Oak Bay Beach Resort and I must say it is so beautiful! It's in a very coolresidential location and the grounds are exquisite. I cannot express enough how wonderful our first day has been here and I'm so sad to be only staying here for two nights!
Anyway, since we got to Victoria at around 11, our room was not ready yet so we thought we'd head downtown to find some food. One fault my family suffers from is our tendency to become "hangry"; if we do not eat right on schedule we become snappy and irritable. It's not pretty. By this point we we're getting a little hungry and we all knew what that turns into, so we parked the car and found this amazing little restaurant that was literally in an alley by Government Street. It was this little Italian Restaurant called Il Terrazzo. I had the Panino al Forno with the Zuppa di Pommodoro soup and it was absolutely to die for, I recommend anyone going to Victoria to stop by this place, you won't regret it! That lunch was one of the highlights of my trip!
Once We had finished lunch we went back to the hotel and were happy to hear that our room was ready! As soon as we got a glimpse of the pool Max and I knew exactly what we were going to be doing all evening ;)
The rest of the day was spent at the beautiful pool right on the ocean. We ordered poolside sushi (which was also delicious) and basked in the smoky sky (okay so it may not have been the sunniest, but at least it was warm!)
Once we became completely exhausted by our pool antics my family and I headed up to the room where I am now writing this post and getting it ready for upload at 8.
I hope you enjoyed today's post and I'll see you again tomorrow!
